G'day to Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well. smile1.gif

It's been a while since i have posted. Been busy cutting grass on ride-on mowers than fishing.

Just sold my little 15ft half cabin with 60HP Mariner. Great clean boat but just not enough grunt when zooming around the bay with more than 2 people on board. (especially 6"2 foot giants like me...lol) biggrin.gif

Bought myself a Carribbean Runabout (oldie, but a goodie) with an Evinrude 175HP over the weekend. Much more fishing space and lots of grunt (and lots of fuel too)...It has a walk through windscreen to the front bow where you can stand & fish. smile1.gif

The previous owner only used the boat in fresh water for skiing. It will now get a workout in fishing.
It has brand new trim including bucket seats & rear lounges. (will be removing the rear lounges for lots of fishing space)

Any positive / negative reviews about these types of boats?

This summer i am planning to get back into the fishing routine. (and mowing....lol) biggrin.gif

Regards,
Majed.

Caribbeans are good boats mate just look over it for transom & floor rot, it usually comes from idiots adding extras and not sealing them properly.
What happened to the big Swiftcraft? with the pod?
I didn't even know you had a 15 footer in between, I bet that was a challenge for you.
What size is the Caribbean, does it have a model designation I can't make it out in the pics.
I once had a boat with those side bench seats they were great for just cruising around but hopeless for fishing.

Far too much power for a boat of that size, it's like having a v8 in a mini minor,, great noise factor but a smaller motor would have far better weight for power ratio, 90 hp would be as much power as that boat would need to give it optimum performance.
Other then being over kill on the power issue, get rid of those seats as intended and you will have a good fishing boat.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Its a Carribbean Corsair/Safari

The floor & transom seem to be in pretty good nick. The boat has been looked after well by the previous owners.
I know 175HP is a lot of power, but i would like to have the extra grunt. You never know maybe the kids will want to ski or water tubing. Plenty of pulling power.
The seats are easily removed for fishing and put back on for cruising.

I sold the old Swiftcraft 2 years ago. Then bought a Easy Rider half cabin with 150HP on pod. This was a great boat but a bit heavy towing.
Then i downsized to a 15ft Yalta Craft - again great boat in fantastic original condition but just not enough grunt. I was the 2nd owner.

And now the Carribbean ..lol---i snapped it up for a bargain as the 70 year old owner didn't need it no longer...
The cheapest one i could find (and there are not too many around for sale) was in Melb for $11500 and this one has a 120 HP Chrysler...
But i got mine much less..... biggrin.gif

I think your motor is perfect Majed, 75HP for the boat + crew and 100HP for you.

Took the boat out Saturday afternoon for a quick run on the Georges River.

It purred like a kitten, lots & lots of power and the boat handled well. Very happy with the performance.
Before taking the boat to the water i replaced the old fuel (40 litres) with new fuel.

Found out from the people why i had the boat "boatcoded", that the boat is actually a Carribbean Safari.....don't know why it had Corsair stickers on the side....

Also, can anyone recommend a descent Bait Board with Rod Holders....the ones they sell at the boat accessory shops are crap..u pay upto $200 for one and they shake, tilt and wobble a lot ??

I'm not a fan of mounting the kitchen sink up high on the transom getting in the way of fishing so I incorporated mine into the top of the live bait tank.

All I can say is that it works for me but you couldn't use it standing up.

I'm using those triple SS rod holders that fit into an existing rod holder, they are the best thing since sliced bread.
