Well ,

Unlike the gamler who only tell's you when he wins , i will give youse a fishing report , even if i don't turn a reel . smile.gif

Yes that's right -styler's- , i went for another Jewy session last night & yes i did'nt catch a thing , but just like Jumpuss i was disadvantaged aswel .

I took a Dave too laugh.gif

We got there late , round 9-9:30pm only to see a stack of glo sticks pointing to the river. After a qik chat with the blokes fishing where i was last week , we soon found out they were going home .

So we waited then unleashed the beasts . My first 2 baits out were a big sqid ( strip & head ) & a butterflied yakka .Both bought from the fish shop .

After awhile i sent Dave down the Jetty to try & get some squid . He came back and said that some dude just got six but he none . So i went for a go only to find the yakka's schooling up so i went for them instead .First fush little tailor damn , then i got a Yakka & ran back to spot & lobbed him out .Dave was saying how i just got a 1/2 run , but again i had to explain ' if the bait is to their liking they'll hit it like a train ' uknow from Jewfish Secrets . laugh.gif

He kept wanting to try & hook the fish but they were only pickers , although looking at some of the nips in the bait there were a few good ones amongst'em , shame i left the bream gear at home cause the Transporter was booked out !

I tried everything again but nope nothing , narda , zip !!!!

Oh yeah Tezza was there again but left early & gave another dude fishing his spot a squid & he got a 1.5kg specimen .

we left at 3:30am

But the whole trip was not lost cause i found out a new ' tight arsed tip '

Tip #564

after useing ya glo sticks , whack'em in the freezer for next trip ! They'll be a little duller but are bright enough for another round . ;)

here's the pic . smile.gif

The other shots were too reveiling . tongue.gif

In the pic you will see the ezy rig sliding thingy'me'bob , well i normaly remove the clip & tie a length of mono with dropper but i snagged it & that was the last cast . laugh.gif

I'm not saying this is the gun rig by any means , so if anyone has better ideas or just does things diff thats cool , just let me know how .

Another thing i was wondering about was the scales or whatever they call'em ( scutes ?? ) down near the tail of the yakka , should you cut them off or just leave'em when you butterfly a yakka????

Yes Mully , i was allnight actualy but never had the gear on me mad.gif .

Mully i've never done it for Jews tho so how would i go'bout it???

Mainly how deep should i set the bait?

and a simple description of the rig maybe???

I have a few more Q's hope ya dont mind .

Do you hold the rod or use holders????

Should i try to set hooks or just let them run as i've been told to do ??, cause the few that i've caught have all hooked em selves on the run or i jerk the line by hand while they run. ( no editing this in a qote JG ) laugh.gif

Try a fresh pilly or squid head (dead of course) with no weight. That's what I use when there is little current but if there is current then you need weight to keep it on the bottom.

Yeah catch i tried the ol'sqid head m8 , but with weight tho .The prob is the fish are in deep water & a fair way out .I was hoping to be able to cast further with a diff rod , but that did'nt work out either , i definately need a heavier rod mine are 8-10kgs .

Thats why i was thinking the float may work but am just a bit doubtfull that a Jews gonna rise to the occasion if ya know what i mean . Have heard of them slurping mullet off the surface & have a big lure ( sp ) just for that occasion , but thought that to only be the case in storm or flood conditions ??

& with the current always screaming past it's a bit hard to fish floaters . All this thinking & stuffing round maybe i should just crack the boat out again . biggrin.gif
