My patience for fly flew out the window ,,after many hours of practise and a lot of swear words I admit I gave up...Fly drove me insane for some reason im not usually one to give in but this got the better of me mad.gif mad.gif

Now the rod is around 10 times smaller and the reel is a hanging wind chime in the back yard [bloody fly fishing]

It's actually a bit of fun laugh.gif

We all get out & give it a go one of the guys got tangled up in the tree, I snagged a truck & had to run after it to get him to stop bugger nearly spooled me laugh.gif laugh.gif

It's one thing being able to cast in a car park & another actually knowing how to fish with one of them fly thingy's

Yep Yep it was a bloody big truck laugh.gif laugh.gif

Not a fresh water fisherman only dabble in non saline water from time to time.

Prob the only reason I've even shown any interest in a fly rod was cause last year I had a mongrel of a time getting the frigate mackels to take either a SP or jig lure but those on fly were doing very well as far as hookups went so maybe I'll give them a shot this year on fly if they're being fussy again.

Yep Yep Daniel

They were everywhere last season up to 3 different schools surfaces @ one time.

They were that close I could've reached out & grabbed them even had a couple of 6 ft whaler sharks crashing them & one of the sharkies nearly banged into the boat as it was thrashing around.

Only managed 2 frigates that day my 1st cast actually jagged one & after about another 100 casts changing lures etc finally managed to hook the 2nd frigate in the mouth.

Reckon I would've had a ball that day on fly.

kk geez you're a ninkompoopy laugh.gif laugh.gif

Serious my arse I knew you were up to no good.

Anyways guys had another go @ that fly rod thingy but there were no trucks to be found in the area so no hookups tongue.gif

I did however come home with a new wittle toy to try out.

I'm no expert on fry gear but this wittle reel is beautifully made & it's the same as the one we've been trying to catch trucks & tree's with laugh.gif laugh.gif

Full Alloy has it's own drag system [ I was told that fry reels didn't have drag ???] It's from the Browning range & fair dinkum I could use it as a roulet wheel it just keeps spining around & around then it does some more around & around after that.

What you guys reckon is it spoofylacockassen or what ??? tongue.gif

wheres mine ,lolol mate ya dont need a drag for fresh water like ya would for salt ,when ya fry fish in salt ya need 5 times the amount of line and backing cause as ya know they run and fight better then freshwater fish
