I did a Fed & watched the show
Yep Yep that Andrew Crappy Clarke Chappy is bloody hopeless & any new commers to the sport should NOT pay wun bit of attention to him. The guys hopeless. At least now I know where all those I've argued with on forums get their info from Twits like him I dont watch to many fishing shows or video's very few indeed but if they're anything like the tactics shown on Adventure Bound I'm missing Nut Tings -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

All the guys on TV shows are the same Jumpy, they're childlike in the way they handle their gear and stumble around the boat.
Adventure Bound is really one of the better shows, it's a pity their lead man (Neil Tedesco) died as he wasn't too bad. I always laugh when they can't get their rod out of the holder with a fish on. -------------------- ![]() SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

IFISH show doesn't seem to be too bad...also a bit of laugh too.... That is the best show IMO... always get a laugh and he/they respect the fisho that is putting them onto fish. They will always try 2 or 3 different methods to catch fish in the same area, then explain why and how.. My thoughts... -------------------- Don't hate me, cause you ain't me... :)

advertorial's those shows with a bit of fishing to fill in between adds, not worth the time to watch them, if we had a camera and a bit of time there would be enough talent on this site to make a real fishing program.
jumpus to direct i think we should have fed and bees knees out front of the camera for the salt water seen's. spud and majed for the fresh water stuff. and young twit top to do the boat reviews. now who is going to expand on this idea, perhaps an idea or two for a script. Sum Ting that I thought of a couple of years ago poly
I'll never do it cause I couldn't be bothered BUT Imagine having a whole days fishing being streamed via video camera & uplink on a boat Straight to peeps PC's where they can log on & see wot it's really like out there without all the bullshit editing these shows go through For instance a day out Marlin fishing, or better still an arvo spent cubing for YFT The audience gets to see everything the action, the boring bits the whole package Same can be done fishing for snapper or any other species Prob with these shows is ewe only get to see the juicy bits & that's not wot a day's fushing is all about Reckon mounting a camera @ boat ramps would be a the Biggerest laugh anywun could have as well watching all the fruitloops trying to launch & retrieve their boats -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Fishin' Trip (the guy that says 'stop the bus') is pretty good. I like it. The guy knows how to use lures and catches quality fish. I don't mind his mouth and how he talks, he's just trying to be entertaining. He also used light line a lot, yesterday they were jigging kings and after he got a few on the heavy stuff he swapped to the 14lb stick and sent down big SP's. They were in Yamba and the skipper broke out the 6kg stick too and had some fun with AJ's, almost got spooled too which was funny to watch.
River 2 Reef is OK now that Al McGlashlan is on it, but the other guy (the greek one) is bloody hopeless. They still have the boring boating and maritime info...... FFS get rid of that crap. They obviously realised they needed Al because the guys before it knew nothing and were boring as bat sh*t. Hook, Line and Sinker is pretty good too. They try funny things such as fly fishing with old cane rods like in the beginning of the century, before graphite. They managed some nice trout too and watching that cane load up was awesome! I can't stand Paul WORSTeling. Otherwise iFish is good, even if it is promotional. ET is terrible because of the constant plugging of brands and products, but that's how he makes his $$$. I also agree Fishing WA was better with the old hosts. The blonde guy that shouts all the time is off putting. My 2c. Fishin' Trip (the guy that says 'stop the bus') is pretty good. That's the guy with the 5 greek Mother-in-laws QUOTE The guy knows how to use lures and catches quality fish. If you're refering to the guy from Pirteck ?? He is very good, knows his stuff & is very smooth working fushys with the rod not to mention quite knowledgable Haven't seen the other shows exept ET's which I think is rubbish The Adventure Bound Show from last night was a joke that Andrew Clarke should be Zotted Many moons ago when I started fushing land based there were alot of cowboys like that clarke chappy BOLTERS They'd burn themselves out after 10 minutes, Wun day I watched this old chappy fighting a YFT he wasn't in a hurry, very smooth with his rod work he was a STAYER Naturally when I hooked my 1st GooDarus Fushy I copied his style & never looked back. That Clarke chappy jerks, wanks his rod like there's no tommorro but never seems to gain any line till fush bust him off 50 lb braid to catch a 3 kg blurter was a joke & when he lost the next wun he put that outfit away & went for the 80 lb outfit A rod should never lose it's loaded bend in a fight to many peeps just drop the rod & 4get to wind line back onto the spool Keep the rod bent @ all times slowly lowering not droping it , ewe lower as you're turning the reel this way there's allways constant pressure on the fushy limiting the chance of pulling hooks moreso important on the lighter line classes. Jerking a rod can only result in a hole wearing on the hookup point with a greater chance of hook dislodgement -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

JUMPY you forgot the lift that is just as impotent, it should be firm but even, I have a word for it soft hands an even firm lift, and wind it down not drop the the rod like i have seen done to many times.

The lift should be smooth poly
Sort of covered it when I said there's no need to jerk Your lift is governed by the fushy, if it's running then just hold the rod till the run stops As a general rule drag should be set @ a 1/3 of the lines breaking strain [ not wot those clowns on Adventure Bound tell ewe] A wittle trick that I use when lifting & want more muscle out of my line is to thumb the line up against the rods 4grip basically locking the reel BUT the moment I feel the fush wanting to go again I release the line & let the drag settings do their job. It's a very handy method esp when it's a swelly day & the boat is up & down like a yoyo, days like that the swell will peel line off the spool -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Did you think those Marlin were a bit sleepy? Hard to say cause it would've been too boring filming the whole fight + alot would've been edited Wun thing I did like was that there was no Cowboy stunts all the other gooses would put on by trying to pull off the fishy's heads wun of the gooses was nortorious for that he was a wanker in my books. I've been saying it for yonks there's no need to strike @ fish they'll set the hooks themselves when they swim off & that goes for any fish big or wittle Missed many a hookups back in my early days trolling live stripeys around for stickheads cause the norm was to gun the boat to set the hook Wot a load of Bullshit that is All you're doing is ripping the bait out of the fishys mouth @ a great rate of speed Even with lures I wont gun the boat just leave motors @ troll speedtill Wit Dick is cleared 2 reasons for that Get the fush out past other lures to avoid tangles Keep pressure on the line so fishy dosen't spit the hooks -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

There's no comparisment betwen that Neil guy may have caught some good fish but he was a cowboy using rope to haul them in add to that all the good fish were taken in exotic locations & who knows how much footage was zot to get the little they screened. If ewe did have the expirience behind ewe & had put the hrs in over the years ewe'd straight away pick up on the difference between the 2 & that's why I complemented that Lee Chappy -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Lee Rayner has a big support group down in melb.. When he worked for Paul Worsteling many always said he was the better fisherman and now he started his own shop and hosting his own show... Good on him. Apparently he is very good with his customers and helping out people!
Mind you, I met Worsteling and he had the time to stop and have a good chat to me.. He does carry on a bit much on TV though.. |

In that Kungy Jig thingy they were both using the same outfits & line or should I say rope
After all those years ewe tortured me making me jig for those wretched kungs think ewe would've learnt a thing or 2 1st thing that caught my eye was their rods I wouldn't give them to a Jap on ANZAC Day to jig with Very slow taper & action & in my view not the the rod to attempt lifting heavy fish directly up they lack the leverage power If ewe watched every lift only resulted in wun or 2 turns of the reel that's alot of effort & energy wasted to gain a foot or so of line A fast tapered rod would've given them a hell of a bigger advantage & more line retrieved with every lift Spud Paul Worsteling is just an OK fisho, the likes of him & others like Rex Runt, ET etc have the need to rely on others to get fish for their shows they are only the shows hosts. No different to say if I or ewe were to go fishing an new area or species session would i general be alot more productice if a local were there to show not tell us how it is done eg] If Potato Cod were the the target species who better than ewe to help fill up the potato sack -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I would much rather jig with a slower more parabolic rod than a faster rod when it comes to kings and other fish which don't have a terrible amount of stamina. When it comes to fish that can slug it out, well then that's different. Oh, and yes JG I have jigged with both slow and fast tapered rods.

I think you need to Google fast tapered rods, slow tapered rods & parabolic curves C&R then you will understand your last post is a complete contradiction of terms.
I'm not a fan of slow tapered rods for anything, I know they have their uses but not for me. You rate Kingfish as low in stamina that surprises me, I'd put them in the top 20% easily. I'd like to see the big list of fish you think out perform them in the stamina stakes. -------------------- ![]() SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Don't forget Strikezone tonight on TVS at 8.30PM, I'm hoping for a lot of underwater footage, that's what was shown on the promo I saw.

I watched strikezone last night and it was OK, I was hoping for more underwater pics of fish in their natural habitat.
On the upside it looks like it will be about fishing in the Sydney area which I find more interesting than shows about other states. Hope they do one in Botany Bay. -------------------- ![]() SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

I particularly liked his comments on not wasting time catching yakkas on bait jigs - rather use the old handline etc.
Also very impressive with the use of sports gear - like 80lb braid and 100lb leaders for 50cm kingies Aside from that, it was still interesting to see local waters and other methods. I have a spool of 150lb mono, if you want some leader material, Fed. Just let me know. |

I'd like to see the big list of fish you think out perform them in the stamina stakes. Slow, parabolic, whatever. What I meant was a rod that bends all the way to the grips (to a certain extent). You don't want a noodle though, the fish has to work to load up the rod. What I definitely know is that when I go jigging I prefer my more 'parabolic' jig rod as it's easier to jig. Also kings definitely don't have a lot of stamina. They run very hard and fast, sure, but the runs are never long and you can get one up pretty quick as long as it doesn't dust you. In deep water 100m+ they only fight in the bottom 20m and top 20m, everything in between they give up and just come up with you. QUOTE I prefer my more 'parabolic' jig rod as it's easier to jig. Googlefushy not really the case, only difference is not as much line gets retrieved onto the reel cause the rod takes the shock of the retrieves & if you're using a high geared reel you're defeating the purpose. As a squid rod the slow tapered are much better suited as they absorb the impact of jig leaving it in the zone alot longer QUOTE Also kings definitely don't have a lot of stamina. No they dont have stamina, BUT 95% of the time it's a straight up & down fight rendering the slow tapered rods infectictive. I do have a pair or 2 of very similar rods they were using in the show in the LOX range & dont really like them @ all alot of energy used for very little result -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

As a squid rod the slow tapered are much better suited as they absorb the impact of jig leaving it in the zone alot longer Has nothing to do with line speed retrieve, it's easier to jig coordinately. When you load up the rod properly on the downstroke the line isn't completely loose and on the upstroke the rod helps to 'flick' the jig back up. So not about speed, just keeping it coordinated. And by load up I don't mean like it would on a fish, but the rod has to flex a bit or else you'll have loose line everywhere when you pick up pace. Mind you, these slower rods are only really good on heavier lines where super heavy drags would kill you if the rod was too stiff. Make it longer and that hurts even more, and you also lose a lot of shock absorbance if it's too stiff and short. QUOTE and you also lose a lot of shock absorbance if it's too stiff and short No you dont cause the 1st 3rd of the rod takes that shock & @ that time your not hooked up so shock is irrellevant Watched the show again last week & for the life of me couldn't understand why he didn't use handlines to gather bait, instead he opted to use those bloody useless bait jigs Other than that it was actually a very goodarus show, haven't done any skipbaiting myself for over 20 years or so so cant really knock his methods they worked fine. What did catch my eye was he handled the rod very well using thumb to sandwich line to foregrip for that added lifting pressure, no hands on foregrip when retrieving line under no load simple hand over reel using 2 fingers as a level winder. Unlike that 1st timer he reminded me of salty 1st time he was on a fish That happens with 1st timers they're scared to let go of the rod & end up doing it the hard way On another note there's a show on TVS on mundays 8.30 pm called Spear the menu, well worth having a looky @ I was a spearo & into scuba well b4 taking up fishing being in the water me tinks gives me a different idea of what goes on down there to most Anyways this weeks show was about kungs & it was actually interesting how they used a flasher to attract the kungs to come to them -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

No you dont cause the 1st 3rd of the rod takes that shock & @ that time your not hooked up so shock is irrellevant You lose shock absorbance when you hook up a fish if you were using a very powerful, short and stiff rod that was tapered quite quickly, as opposed to a rod that's just as powerful but more parabolic. Fortunately there are no jig rods that are short, powerful and unnecessarily stiff that I can find. Watched the show again last week & for the life of me couldn't understand why he didn't use handlines to gather bait, instead he opted to use those bloody useless bait jigs Other than that it was actually a very goodarus show, haven't done any skipbaiting myself for over 20 years or so so cant really knock his methods they worked fine. I've got 2 exeptional blanks which would make the ideal Kig stick, you wont find them anywhere but not into jigging so couldn't be bothered building them up QUOTE Sure you're not talking about Strikezone with Al McGlashan? Watched that Mal McLassie show this arvo
They were chasing SBT off Bermi, think he had a stiffy all day cause he didn't even attempt any of that poor humour he allways attempts Was a bit surprised by his comments that it was the best days fishing he'd had cause in my books days like that are very common when the fish are about maybe he was refering to jumping in water to film them buggered if I could make him out. Underwater footage was not pretty good but nothing you cant see on a no wind day looking @ the tuna in your burley trail Anywun watch that David Attenborough show last night think it was called Deep Blue ????????? That has got to be sum of the best underwater footage of Marlin/Tuna feeding that I've seen Back on the Strikezone show again it's my tastes but cant say I liked the action of the game rods they were using very soft for the line class & alot of hard work if a fish were to plug down deep -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Yeah !
Well if my grandmother had wheels she would've been a wagon wouldn't she Actually watch Adventure Bound 2nite And for the life of me couldn't work out how in hell that Andrew Chappy was out gunning that Lee Chappy fushing for Reds in Mexicoland Personally I think the Andrew Chappy has been doing a sneaky sneaky visiting ozstyle & stealing all my secrets. Cause there was the evidance right in front of my earsight, those hu watched the show would've noticed 2 drinks on the baitboard the Lee Chappy had a girly drink a bloody Pepsi of all things Where as the Andrew Chappy had a bottle of Actully it was wun of their better shows, that's the sort of snappa fushing I enjoy both the Chappy's got it spot on when they explained there is no need to ever strike @ a fush when it takes the bait, mind ewes they did put emphasis this method used on circle hooks but I've found same method on non circle hooks -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
