Fishing oz style _ Fishing Reports _ I Felt The Need - The Need For Weed

Went for a fish this morning, with a mate, to see if we couldn't land a few blackfish. I hadn't been fishing off the rocks for a couple of months, due to one thing or another, so was looking forward to the session. I thought a spot near Cronulla might hold a few fish, so we baited up with nice fresh cabbage and made a drift. Rory landed the first and last fish today, so we knew that they were there. The takes were mostly tentative and we had to work for them, but ended up with a dozen nice fish. Fellow Sydney Angler, Mick also turned up with mate Ray, but alas, he only landed the one, small fish. Rory had just landed a good sized one and offered it to Mick, who grabbed it, got spiked, dropped it into the convenient gutter which had backwash racing back out into the ocean and watched it swim away. All Mick could do, was cry_smile.gif
It turned out to be a beaut morning, but the southerly was blowing hard outside and starting to make it hard for us as well. Packed up and headed home with a nice lot of fresh fillets. Oh, Rory gave Mick a couple, to supplement the little tacker he had caught. Poor old Ray ended up with a donut, because a month or so back, he refused to give one of his fish to an old woman who grabbed one out of his keeper net. She jumped up and down and cursed him in her own language. Ray reckons he hasn't caught a fish since and is looking for an indigenous elder to lift the curse. hysterical.gif
The fish, the weather and the company made it a fun morning.
