Fishing oz style _ Tackle Talk _ I Want A Quickie

Posted by: Fed Jan 15 2010, 01:05 PM

Has anyone made up a quickie bomb on a cord, I'm looking for feedback on how it went.
I'm thinking maybe 10 Metres long with a loop every metre to hang off the rear bollard at the desired depth.
What ya think?

I guess that would work Fed. Lots of drag, depending on line thickness and bomb shape. Kings are very inquisitive and would rush in to have a look at your weird contraption. If a bait was following close by, then one would likely take it.
When I was scuba diving, we used to tap a knife on the tank and within minutes, be surrounded by kings coming to have a look at what the noise was. Never thought about what else may have come to have a look, but it was always kingfish.

I'm sure it will work KK and I bet Jumpy has enough odds and ends to sort me out, he's probably even got a bong.
How about it Jumpy, what do you think?

Wont work Fed

Ewe'll be geting tangle after tangle

I've got e DUCKS bum in the Scotty2Hotty range & they work a treat, beinf electric they're a breeze if ewe were out fushing on your own cause if Kung takes the bait all ewe need to do is push the button & up comes the bmb all by itself without supervision, which in tun alows ewe to concentrate on the fushy.

If ewe dont want to Show us the $$'s hysterical.gif hysterical.gif for say the 1085 mdel & did want to have a crack @ making wun yourself this is how I wuld do it.

1st thing ewe need to have an extended arm on the thingy to clear the goat & motor else I can see the prop doing chewing exercises, 45 degree's is wot ewe want

Ewe can achieve this by bending a piece of alloy or stainless tube @ around 45 degrees now this tube needs to fit inside a rod hold & a slot cut into the end to be abe to lock int the rod holders pin.

From the rod hold eave about 60 ccm's pretruding on the end of that fasten a pulley for wire to run through

Find a old shitty overhead reel either drill& screw it into top of the tube arm you've bent or use hose clamps

Just as cheap if not cheaper to use wire than braid to tie off ont the bomb

With the wire you can crimp a sleeve evey coupe f meters to indicate depth

I want to hang one off the port corner and not do any sharp right hand turns do you think that would work?
I saw the little bomb in your boat Jumpy it was only small like a cricket ball, I could pull that up by hand in a flash.
I'm thinking small bomb on 10 or so metres of heavy mono trolling pillies very slowly up & down the South face of Moulinex Pt in the channel.

That wittle bomb was a 7 lb'er

Unless ewe tie say 6mm rope to i ewe've got buckleys trying to lift it into the goat, not that it weighs a ton just very awkward on your hands using wire or thin cord, which is really wots needed else there'll be alot of drag whilst troling.

Tis not just a matter of lowering & lifting the bomb Fed

Once ewe get the strike tat bomb needs to be out of the watr quick smart to avoid tangling with mainline

N good hooking the kungs if you're gnna lose them

Wasting your time, even if salted pill's will fall apart in no time

Funny the Kungs in the Bay they seem to only like squid or Slimmys
Yakka's dont interest them

I have no probs hooking kungs on 1/2 pillys but I've also got a cube trail going

Ideally using a Bent Butt from a game rod would save a sh*toad of work, winch is allready fixed onto the butt, all thats needed is 60 cm's of blank glue'd to the butt's male feral & a roller @ the end of the blank.

Prob is unless you can hold of a butt for nick's or very cheaply ewe might as well fork out the $$'s for a Downrigger cause the bent butts aren't cheap
