Fishing oz style _ Tackle Talk _ Bait Runner

Posted by: Fed Apr 28 2010, 03:30 PM

My bait runner has stopped running, it won't even walk, frozen solids and only functions as a non-bait runner now.
Anyone got any ideas and if I open it up will springs and stuff fly off in all directions?

I have a Shimano 2500BR that I took the side plate off to have a look. If you get yours fixed, I will bring mine over, with all the little springs etc, and you can have a go at re-assembling it for me hysterical.gif

Dear Mr Shinny Headarus hysterical.gif

It will be as I said , there's a wittle lever which retracts back onto the main gear easy to point out cause it'll have a wee wittle spring attached to it

The screw which secures this lever to the reels body has over tightened itself, all ewe need to do it back it off a smidge.

Sum times there's no need to even pull reel apart just keep working the baitrunner lever back & forth continually & this may put a bit more pressure on the spring to free up the the stuck lever

All fixed, there was a little broken lever inside that selects the baitrunner/normal operation.
I took it up to Viva and Ethan? made it like brand new for me.
I was all ready to buy a new one but he just grabbed it & went into attack mode.
Their fishing gear is so cheap I want to buy a heap but I don't really need anything at the moment, I'll take the missus up there next week she's much better than me at spending money.

No mate but he did advise to set my baitrunner with a little tension on it to hook the fish rather than leave it at the lightest possible setting.
Sorta makes sense I guess, it's no big deal but I like to leave mine as light as possible because I like the zzzzzzzzzzzzz noise when it goes off.
If I was missing hookups I'd tighten it up a bit to try it.

Edit: What day are you bringing my ciggy lighter back?

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Apr 30 2010, 03:57 PM

Well that's wot the rear nob is there for
Ewe can get over run even on a eggbeater if set to lightly, line will wrap around the reel

Wot ciggy lighter ???????????????????
I dont use them, prefer to rub 2 sticks together
