Yeah was going to take sum pics today but didn't called it a early day just after lunch.
Pulled a muscle in my back last week & have been taking it easy.

Even cancelled yesterday's fushing trip didn't want to aggrevate the muscle, so looks like wednesday is the next decent day out there

All because I opted it was to risky trying to flip her upsy downsy in the confined space that I have & had to work bent over virtually all day long for a few days that's wot pulled the muscle.

Having said that boat has progressed heeps all the welding has been done console/centre cab is virtually complete another 1/2 day & it's all doneall that's left after that is fiddly stuff like rod holders, bolards rails etc & she's ready for paint.

If the axles arrive in the meantime I'll put a hold on the boat & finish off the trailer so it can get registered that way I can slip it under the boat out of the way

Posted by: bafoo Jul 12 2009, 03:00 AM

Ange,

The pics so far look terrific and you certainly should be proud with your handywork.
I cannot wait to see the next lot of pics and the best part will be to see the proud owner launch his pride and joy.

How does one man have so much talent super.gif

Like I said just wasn't in the mood to take pics 2day opted to come home & lay in the spa instead seems to relax the back tongue.gif

Centre cab is nearly completeso it'll be out with the vacume cleaner 2morro a tidy up then I'll take some pics,

Layout on this boat is a bit unusual & will differ a bit on my wun but each is layed out to suit the owner, surprisingly there's a heap of room in these boats with a bit of thought gone into storage as well.

I've come up with quite a few new design options as well & can see myself using my wittle goaty alot more than the 7 odd meter wun.

Templates have been made for all the hole cutouts re gauges binacles etc all the components have been cut for the next 2 goaty's so if ewe blink you'll miss their builds laugh.gif laugh.gif

The boat's really taking shape now Jumpy, did you make the fuel tank condensation proof?
Looks to be plenty of space to walk around the consol, a little bit wider and it could be a centre cab.
Finalised out a motor for this one yet?

QUOTE

Guess you'll have to wait for some decent pics if it's possioble to take any I'm limited for space & angles to take them from unlike the other project

Centre cab runs virtually all the way to the anchor well I allowed 300 mm walk around space there nowthe remaining cab drops down in hight [front of rod rack] think 400 mm high.

2 storage compartments built in with hinged doors, this serves dual purpose both as seating & casting platforn when SP'n

Jumpy. Just check to ensure the spare wheel on the new trailer does not interfere with the release paul on the winch, unless you are putting electric winches on them.

Not trying to be smart or critical or anything like that, just trying to offer some advise.

All done & all sweet frank.

That's why I wanted the trailer back under the boat 1st to check everything out properly, cause on the big boat there was no place wotsoever to mount a spare wheel bracket,

This time I learnt not to make the winch post till boat was positioned correctly on the trailer

Not worth a report can verify the MOJO is still on walkabout

Did have a school of Alblies hit all baits on dusk & missed every wun of them

Bitch of a trip out with sum huge swells, it calm down on the way in & could sit on 25 knots all the way home

Water looked great, not a bad drift either just no fishys

Someone must have fished it out because I saw it for sale on ebay, I thought about it for a couple of hours then went back to make an offer and it was withdrawn from sale.
The "buy it now" price was $29.95, overpriced but I still could have made a tidy profit selling back to Jumpy.
The missing Jumpy MOJO is still at large.

Yeah seems the new boat has got a curse on it dosen't it rolleyes.gif only wun YFT to hit the deck all yeah.

But I'll tell ewe wot it's a hell of a boat to be out there in cracked my head yesterday coming off a swell around 4 meters we were airbourne no such prob for salty he still had 5 foot of head space hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Salty hasn't been able to get on the site so I'll let ewes know the wittle Jelly Bean has been doing quite well fushing for snapper with fush to 4 kg

As far as the MOJO goes ???

Well there has not been a trip out where I haven't found the fush every trip has seen sum action of sorts different story hooking & landing them having said that cant say I've put the effort in this season & I've spent way to much time with that bloody Stella reel thingy trying to pop a fushy up I've decided it's not coming out again.

Like I said water looked great out there yesterday nicest colour I'd seen for a while 18 .3 degrees fush should've been there only thing against us was a east to west drift

A decent looking rig that does look much bigger than what it is.

I do hope you are feeling better soon J.G. as I watch this build, sometimes I think perhaps it is time to return to the dark side, the only thing is the center cab leaves me cold, i have seen it on a lot of u.s. made boats and it looks like a great big wast of space to me, the old fashion 1/4 cab would make a lot more room for the stowing ones gear, now I do know that you have though this throw and have decided on this design for a reason, I would think the main one being all round access while fishing are there any others ?????????

Paul

Posted by: Fed Jul 31 2009, 02:25 PM

I have a quarter cab or cuddy cab Poly and the usable storage space up front is pretty limited.
I spent a lot of years fishing from a boat with no canopy or side curtains and I can tell you it's no fun whatsoever.
Upgrade mate, think of the money you could save in toupe glue.

QUOTE
the only thing is the center cab leaves me cold,

Think you're forgetting wun thing ???????

This boat is only a secondary vessel to play around in the bays etc, ewe cant toss lures around from a hardtop as effectively nor can ewe mount a lecky & operate it effectively.

The way I've designed these centre cabs ewe can do all that with the front portion of rhe cab acting as a casting platform with alot of good storage space underneath, not in my case cause I dont like overcrowding boats but the front section is a walkabout with the platform also acting as seating

Get your facts right Fed

Mercs are made from infirior Yammy parts the 2 Co's are in court cause Yammy gave them an infirior motor

Posted by: Bees Knees Aug 4 2009, 02:32 PM

It's a 90hp 4 stroke. Super seeded model, but still brand new. So i got it at a reduced rate.

Now that i have bought a motor, i have an opinion on the subject...

I think this industry is full of propaganda... They all give you flashy books, giving you percentages on different types of performances, noise, emissions etc, but they all claim to be the best hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Buying a brand new anything, with warrantee, at a price I'm happy with, will give me years of comfortable boating with reliability.. Plus black is much bigger than the other colours hysterical.gif

Fed, I'm just sandblasting and putting a little paint on the trailer for Jumpy... The man is running out of room out his way and the council keep trying to perform a Citizen's arrest on his Arse Just giving him a bit of a hand, but it's like extracting teeth.... He dont like help hysterical.gif i might have to change the word to assistance??? That may confuse Jumpy for a while hysterical.gif

Ranger in the area is an OK bloke, you'll allways get arseholes in every street like the bitch down the bottom of the street who complained to council about all the boats in the street after I had a run in with her wun night.

The street is a no through road with a turning bay down the bottom, I got stuck wun night cause sum f***wit had parked there after a door knock we were unable to locate the owner & I had the shits by now, no choice it took me about 30 or so forward/reversre moves to get clear which included driving up onto a garden.

This bitch came out & strated winging, I told her to go away cause she was starting to piss me off & the garden did not belong to her, nothing elligal about the 5 or so boats in the street exept they were all facing the wrong way, Ranger had to attend & get all who owned a goat to have them face the other way but told me I can put my big wun back the way it was after a month or so & if there was any other complaint he'd come see me 1st again.

There's also a miserable silly old prick across the road who winges about anything & everything every wun in the street hates the fool, he had the hide to try & orchestate a partition to stop me from building the goats.

Everywun refused to sign & told him to get f***ed he even went to the next street where the mayor lives again he got zero signaturesinstead alot of those peeps came & told me wot he was up to & boy didn't I give him a serving, thought the old prick was going to shit his pants hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

I'm fully in my rights to build the boats as long as I dont start noise B4 7 am or after 5 pm

Gotta love the noise abatement you installed for your next door neighbours. hysterical.gif

Stick with the clear screen mate, but you already know that and I'm only saying it to help convince Bees.

What were the cockups. curious minds you know?

Bilge pumps, I think I might have to get one depending on how the rules are interpreted, what do you think?
Noticed (I think) you had a manual one installed on the big boat and I was thinking of maybe going the the same way.
Obviously bigger is better but how many GPH do you think is enough?

Did you put any floatation in this one?

PS: It still looks like a centre consol to me, guess we have different ideas on what a centrecab looks like.

Posted by: Fed Aug 8 2009, 02:32 PM

Tinted is harder to see through as soon as they get a bit of salt spray on them.
I fished for a lot of years out of a Quinny with a tinted screen and it was a real pain.

With a 120 Litre tank it should run all day on a 90HP 4 banger, I go from Revesby to the heads and run around the Bay for about 30 Litres with my 90HP old tech 2 stroke, that's got to be close to 50 Miles.

Tinted Glass or Perspex Fed? Massive difference...

Had a look at the glass charts, and you have a point. 87% visibilty for clear and 42% for Grey... But Green is at 79% (hardly noticable) Green would look good against white or black rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Fed Aug 8 2009, 09:24 PM

That's perspex Bees but I can't see how it would be any different for glass when considering the same amount of tint.
IE, apples for apples.
I agree the tinted screens look great but it comes at a vision cost.

I dont use pistol grips exwpt when lure casting & dont need rod holders for that

I saw similar rod holders on a fishing show & kinda aped them.

Wot I did on these was weld a piece of 25 mm solid round as the base I them drilled down the centre & taped the hole to a M 10 thread, a bolt will screw up into that thread & that's wot will give a 360 degree rotation unlike the wuns on that show which were fixed

They right angle fuel fitting on the water separators, did you use any thread sealing tape or goop on them or are they screwed in dry into the taper. I'm remembering the problem Hank had trying to get his to line up on the right angle but you have got them both where you want them. I think you were probably holding your mouth just right when you tightened them up.

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Aug 20 2009, 11:19 PM

No need 4 brakes weight of boat is well under requirements

Amazing how velly wittle Alloy weighs, trailer only weighed 280 kg over the weighbridge & it's all made of 6 mm thick alloy think Bees said he weighed the frame itself @ 200 kg so there's 80 kg of axles & fittings

I'm pooped & did nut tings today, boys came over & we got the trailer & goat registered so sum time 2morro I'll slip goat on trailer cause 1st ting monday morn It's off to get the motor bolted on.

I've prob got a day or so tidying up & she hits the water & I get rid of her.

Paul

Um !

In general yes they could've got the boat built in china for a hell of alot cheaper than getting wun built here

Chi Nee are hopeless @ designing etc but they are great copy cats

BUT !

The cost of these 3 goaty's has amazed even Jumpus I wont disclose how much cause I wont get believed bear in mind I'm not adding labour costs into the equation either nor has any expense been skimped on as far as the fittings etc.

Have to give a wee bit of credit to my off sider Bees, he's been playing my secretary on the projects chasing up the deals, opening accounts with co's to get the prices, we got some super super deals on the alloy this alone has kept costs right down.

Helpswhen your ordering for 3 goats as well a mate of mine in the industry cant get the price on alot of the gear that I did & he's in the industry, then there's all the peeps Jumpus knows who go out of their way to do the best deals for him we're talking 60% discount on fasteners I'm now on 40% off on the paints & the list goes on.

And yep the 1st boat will be used as a promo for their gear that's the main reason I ended up scaping that tinny project a few months back & talked them into a new goaty, me tinks I'll have to spend a couple of days @ their warehouse raiding the shelves & setting up outfits /tackle box's for the goat hysterical.gif

Have to admit it's good to see the boys bringing in alot of good gear in these days instead of the rubbish they initially started importing & their sales are a testiment to that they are doing quite well now.

As far as the Viva Factory in China goes well it's gigantorus 100,000 sq meters has everything from accomidation apartments tenis courts, swiming pool etc etc etc only completed this year so it's a brand new complex, Viva is now the biggest manufacturer of rods & reels in the world.

QUOTE

Yeah Fed I'm curious as well & will weigh it when I drop the goaty off on thursday, I've done calculations by how much alloy went into the goaty

Posted by: Fed Aug 22 2009, 02:30 AM

QUOTE
BRAKING SYSTEM
The minimum braking system for a trailer depends on
the type of trailer, its weight and the weight of the vehicle:
0 – 750 kg loaded weight – no brakes required.
751 – 2000 kg loaded weight – braking on both wheels
on at least one axle.
2001– 4500 kg loaded weight – braking on all wheels,
and an automatic breakaway system in case the trailer
becomes detached from the vehicle.
Brakes must be operable from the driver’s seating position.

I've gotta say that I don't know from personal experience with trailer weights but that's how I've always seen it.

I'm eager to get started on the next wun cause I know there wont be any stuff up on the next 2 now that I've nutted evlly ting out

Bees liked the layout of this wun but mine will be alot different, I installed the sounder/GPS today same with the downrigger all the elects are now complete, I even sprayed in the rego on the boat peel off the masking tommorro give it a cleanup.

Then I can drop it down onto the ground onto sum rollers & push it out about 2 meters else the windscreen frame will crash the roof, Then up it goes onto the trailer ready for monday when I take it down to my mates & bolt the motor on, not even going to attempt doing it @ my place alot easier with the forklift.

I should have everything else hooked up by tuesday & wednesday it's off for a test run.

I wont take any more pics till it's out of the driveway.

QUOTE

I'd expect it would do 36 Knots WOT with an average load anyway Bees.
More than fast enough and you get a terrific range as a bonus with the 90.
I've had mine up to 35 Knots and it's probably heavier & pushes more air with the cab & canopy.

GooDarus guess with the 80 yammy going on the back of the 1st goaty it'll pull around 33 knots more than enough speed

I can't really agree Bees, yes they do have massive buying power, but there overheads are massive as well and that money has to won back, as J.G. said he has not facted in labor, to me that would add in at least another 25to30% perhaps even more

Cant do that poly !

Agencies get set up here & they have to be protected by the factories

Having said that I got a shock yesterday, I'd allready spoken to the boys from Viva about bringing in some Lecky's for these goats, they have brought them in B4 100 units went to Qld but these were just a transom mount troll motor came from the very same factory as the Javis Walker Snakes.

I wanted the 100 lb thrust for these goats & got declined by the factory back in China reason being Javis Walker have the rights to all the foot contolled Lecks.

The shock I was refering to previously was the Min Kota 80 lb sells for $2,300 here even with my discount out of that price it's still expensive so we found a sneaky work around going to use wun of the european agencies to order from factory in china & ship them off to us @ their cost price, I wont disclose how much 4 but it's put a smile on my face.

Hmmmmmmmm !

Sounds more like a plan to do another Barry Manilow Concert 2 me hysterical.gif

I've been a Jelly Bean forever
and I wrote the very first song
I put the words and
the melodies together
I am music
And I write the songs

(chorus)
I write the songs
that make the whole world sing
I write the songs
of love and special jelly things
I write the songs
that make the young watto's cry
I write the songs
I write the songs

My home lies deep within you Bees
And I've got my own place in your soul
Now when I look out through your eyes
I'm young again, even though I'm very old

What's the reason for lowering the trailer Jumpy, do you need to get enough water to semi float the boats off?

You told me boats slide off these skid trailers on their own.

Just having a pot shot at you mate but how do you get on at a flat ramp?
River Rd ramp is a good angle, my boat rolls in by itself, even my old Caribbean Commodore (20½ Ft) used to roll off without help and that was one heavy boat with everything but the Kitchen sink. No wait! It did have the kitchen sink too.

Now be nice and let me have my fun. hysterical.gif

Couple of reasons

1. goat lower 2 ground which makes for safer towing
2. ewe dont have to sink the car @ ramps.

That ramp is very flat & it was chocks's with sand buildup

On another note took the trailer to get Blue Slipped 2day all was fine & passed till they delivered the unspection guys new Seeing Dog

Yeah I know what you mean mate, my boat used to sit like a cocky on a perch with my old trailer and it felt very unstable. Now with the new trailer it sits at least 6" lower, maybe even 8".
I can rip round corners with gay abandon now.
Have you heard from the Viva boys, I bet they haven't used the boat yet, they seemed a bit scared of it to me.

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Sep 29 2009, 01:38 AM

Wouldn't have been so bad if the boat was getting reversed back by my car, I have towball hight etc spot on but behind the commodore tow ball was way to low in turn throwing the arse of the boat skywards, that's wot I saw as the prob @ the ramp.

Yeah the boys rang last week david has been taking them out in the goat

Work is so much better when the kids come along to give you a hand, my middle daughter now 13 does the occasional day in the holidays when she wants to earn a few $$$$, she looks after the paperwork, keeps the cables running up the walls tangle free and tells me where to cut the holes when doing 2story string line drops and when we've got to drill the noggin on internals. She really enjoys it now as she gets to activate the service with the PDA we now use for work.....I usually ask her what she enjoys most about helping her old man out for the day and like many of us the best part for her is when the cold hard hits her hand-she earns $10 per job-we average 5-8 a day. She used to like Mc'd or the KFC lunch but thats just a bonus for her.

Posted by: Fed Oct 15 2009, 02:04 AM

Why glass KK, it's only a tinny.
Just a hint, whenever I grease my motor I fill up the domed nut that holds the steering cable onto the motor then when I do it back up it forces grease through the tilt tube so I get a contsant stream of fresh grease going through it.
Do it with the steering retracted on left lock so you can't get any hydraulic lock up happening.
It's strange I've never see anyone ever suggesting that in all the seized steering threads I've seen.

Hey Jumpy what's the deal with blaming the Revesby ramp for the boat no sliding off, that ramp is as good as they get.
I'd hate to see you on a flat ramp, I thought you said skid trailers slide off as good as roller trailers, have I got news for you. THEY DON'T!
Mine rolls off on that ramp by itself, don't even need to push it by hand.

Trailer brakes? Has anyone weighed one of these rigs yet, it's black & white, there is no grey area on a new trailer.

Did you build any condensation into the fuel tanks for these boats?
BTW, I liked your little breather covers but I still have enough pressure to piss uphill. HaHaHaHa!

1st rule for brakes

Only required if trailer goes over a certain weight, these being alloy they weigh SFA thus brakes not required for the trailer itself
[/quote]

................................................................................
..................

For those who may not be aware of the regulations of brakes on a trailer.
If a trailer itself ( unladen ) weights more then 150 kilo it is required that it has override brakes fitted.
If a trailer + it's gross weight exceeds 750 kilo then that trailer requires override brakes.

So I would suggest anyone with a boat near 5 metres or over to load it up with the usual equipement they normally have in the boat when they use it ( tow it ) including fuel grog and anything else they have in the boat when towing it, and take it to a weighbridge. If it's over 750kg it needs brakes.

The RTA are ramdomly going to boat ramps throughout NSW with portable scales and weighing trailers as they enter the ramp area.
If your boat/trailer/equipement weights over 750kg's you are then required to have your boat/trailer towed back home OR a place where brakes can be fitted to the trailer. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TOW THE TRAILER YOURSELF, you have to have it professionally towed by a registered tow truck. You can arrange your own tow OR the RTA will arrange a tow and bill you for it.
For those who don't believe me, and have a boat weighing over 750kg's gross all up weight on trailer I just hope you keep getting away with it.
For those who want to stay within the laws and don't want to take the risk of a very expensive tow from a ramp, I suggest you weight your outfit.

I don't mean this to be interpreted as any kind of critisism to Jumpys post, just would prefer the members here to be aware of the true facts.

Posted by: Fed Nov 5 2009, 04:33 PM

I've got a funny feeling the unladen weight limit is 250Kg but if you've checked it recently Frank then I'll stand corrected.
Also the 750Kg cut off does NOT include the downward weight on the towball so anyone getting their boat/trailer rig weighed should do it while still connected to the car.

I actually went down to the RTA in botany & had a word with wun of the inspectors rather than speak to a clueless desk jocky.
Also bear in mind I spent a few $$'s setting my tow vehical up to tow [irrelevant as far as RTA goes but I have peace of mind]

THE LAW

In December 1998 an agreement was reached by all State Ministers of Transport to implement national towing regulations throughout Australia. The uniform law states all trailers with an Aggregate Trailer Mass (including the load) over 750 kg must be fitted with brakes to comply with the national road regulations.

According to the Australian Design Rules, all trailers over 750kgs GTM, irrespective of the towing capacity or unladen mass of the tow vehicle, must have an effective brake system fitted. All brakes must be operable from the drivers seat of the tow vehicle except for over-ride brakes.

The minimum braking system required for a trailer or caravan depends on its type and weight, as well as the weight of the tow vehicle.....

• Up to 750kgs GTM: No brakes are required.

• 751 to 2,000kgs GTM: There must be a braking system on the wheels of at least one axle and over-ride brakes are permitted. However, for caravans exceeding 1000kgs, independent brakes (electric brakes are the most common
form) are strongly recommended.

• Over 2,000kgs GTM: A brake system operating on all wheels is required. The system must be capable of automatically activating should the trailer become detached from the tow vehicle. Under these circumstances the brakes must remain applied for at least 15 minutes. These 'break away' systems are compulsory on all trailers over 2,000kgs GTM.

WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROLLER

An electric trailer brake controller is a device that supplies power from a vehicle to a trailers electric brakes when the vehicles brakes are applied. Any trailer with electric brakes needs a brake controller to activate the operation of the brakes.

HOW IT WORKS

Power is fed from the vehicles stoplights into the controller, activating the trailers brakes via a separate heavy duty circuit fed through the trailers connecting plug and socket. This allows the trailers brakes to come on automatically when you apply the vehicles brakes, at a rate set by the controller. When the controller is adjusted correctly, the driver will be able to slow the tow vehicle and trailer combination just as smoothly as if the tow vehicle was by itself.

It is important the wiring is heavy enough for the power to run through to the trailer with a good earth return, not just earthed to the body. Of course proper maintenance of the brakes with regular adjustment of the shoes & care of the magnets goes without saying.

WHERE DOES IT GO

Most electric brake controllers are of a slimline contoured design allowing under dash placement easily within the drivers reach. From the drivers seat you can control the rate of brake application from soft to aggressive my simply moving the control forward or backward. Most controllers also have a manual over-ride device which allows the user to apply the trailers brakes independently of the vehicles brakes.

TYPES OF CONTROLLERS

There are two types of electric brake controllers - motion sensing or pendulum style and time delay activated or solid state. Although the controllers methods are different, both types of controllers are very similar. Both allow the user to adjust output or braking power & both have a pressure sensitive manual over-ride trigger that can be used to apply the trailer brakes independent of the vehicles brakes & as well as having the same wiring configuration.

MOTION SENSING or pendulum style controllers are enabled by the brake pedal switch and activated by a pendulum circuit that senses the vehicles stopping motion and applies a proportional voltage to the trailers brakes. When properly adjusted the trailer will decelerate at the same speed as the tow vehicle. This increases braking efficiency and reduces brake wear. A big advantage of the pendulum style controller that it will operate well under adverse braking conditions and have a smooth braking action. Although most pendulum style controllers are bulky, more expensive and must be mounted and calibrated level, there are exceptions such as the new generation controllers like Tekonsha Prodigy.

TIME DELAY controllers operate the trailers brakes at a pre-determined braking rate. These controllers are designed to activate the brakes at a set delay from when the stoplights are activated. In some instances the rate of brake application is no different for a gradual stop to that of an attempted emergency stop. It is important to note that while time delay controllers provide some braking, it does not provide the most efficient balanced braking for the combination of car and trailer. Time delayed controllers are inexpensive, have a low profile, and can be mounted on any angle.

Fed. You will find that I am right, the weight is 150kg's.
This is for a boat trailer which our members would be concerned with. Caravans and plant trailers and a few other type trailers have different regulations, which I won't go into here.

Cant see how ewe can be correct Frank ????????

Irrellevant whether it's a boat or box trailer 150 kgs is Seirra Foxtrot Alpha

By adding mech brakes to a 150 kg trailer you've just increased it's weight by 25 %

I know this cause I just went through it

In other words wot ewe are saying is that even box trailers are illigal & need brakes cause ewe put wun of those on a weighbridge it'll go over the 150 kg mark

Not looking for logic jumpy as we are dealing with a government department, simply stating what the regulations say in black and white.
There is always the possibility that they have made a mistake in the printing of documents and on their web site.

Agree with ewe there frank !

Bunch of morons as far as I'm concwerned that's why I went & spoke to wun of the inspectors instead of a dingaling on the ph.

Bees can verify I lost it @ the RTA when we went to register his trailer cause they couldn't access their data base Bees had to pay $15 to get a permit to drive his trailer home cause they were to stupid to accept all the paperwork & his money & mail him his rego.

I had to walk out B4 I really lost it, silly woman instead of apologising for the inconvience insisted it was not their fault couldn't get it through her thick head twas their data base not ours that was out of action & it's their responsibility not ours, her supervisor was no better & just as stupid so I walked out & let Bees sort it out

I even had a disagreement @ the weighbridge today & got the guy to re-weigh the trailer cause it went 45 kg hevier than the other 2 & I know I used around 10 kg less alloy on this wun.

Posted by: Fed Nov 6 2009, 01:07 PM

Here you go Frank,I knew I'd seen it somewhere, straight from the RTA.

To be exempt from brakes....

QUOTE
Where a boat trailer or similar skeleton trailer weighs between 150kg and 250kg it must be
hauled by a vehicle with a tare weight of at least six times the tare weight of the trailer.

Any car under 1500Kg isn't a real car anyway.

It all goes out the window when you put any boat on it aside from a tinny.

I wish I could find the MEMO I reciaved from RTA regarding this matter, but it was a while ago so probably have thrown it out.
anyway if you google RTA NSW and then through the search " trailer requirements " a page will come up showing the weights requiring brakes etc.

It would be good if any of these regulations were cleared up and not have as many loop holes and controdictions attatched to them, no doubt somewhere on their site there will be a different version to what they say here.
I think 250kg's is a much more realistic minimum requirement before brakes are needed. But I don't make the laws.

Yeah they were good prob saved a day & a 1/2 of masking up & doing it all by templates.
Would've liked the marlins that 100 mm bigger though it would've looked alot better.

Ewe can go to school on wot I did.

Lay the stensils flat till ready for use they kink easy & will leave air gaps, I got a few & will have to buff them out

When ready use masking tape on corners to hold stensil in possy just on top so ewe can flip it cause it's velly easy to prep exist paint with sum 1200 wet/dry b4 applying paint, dont be scared to scrath outside the stencil profile it's only 1000 & will buff out very nicely.

Haven't buffed my wun yet best leave paint to dry as long as possible

For best results wait till 2028 B4 buffing hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Didn't really do any ting 2day wasn't feeling the best so all I did was go out & bend up the tube work for the hard tops on the cabs didn't have the die for larger size tube so had to go out & borrow wun.

As seen in pic I'd bolted up the Anchor yesterday now I've got to learn a few tings about these Mine is Bigger than yours blackys hysterical.gif

Know the Yammy's inside out & to be honest much prefer to work on them
1st ting I noticed on the Black anchor was the cowls, they are Super light cause the Bloody things are made of plastic that was a piss off right away cause if ewe ever damage it they're not repairable like the fibreglass wuns, not just the main cowl is made of plastic either.

Reading through all the tags attached to the motor wun really caught my eye the wun that said not to use a Primer bulb on the fuel line cause it may damage the electric fuel pump.

Wot a load of

My Q is does Mercury think they are the only wuns to use electric fuel pumps ??

Or have they taken into consideration that sum boats run long fuel lines & water seperators/fuel filters ???

Plug on the main elec harness was giant & was a bitch to get through the under floor chanel so were the contol cables being alot bigger than the yammy wuns but on a good note those control cables were smooth as silk in their travel mind ewes I did get the platinum wuns which I thought odd cause of all the new motors I've purchased over the years this is the 1st time control cables have been supplied

Oh did get around to hooking up the hydraulic steering today but that was about it

The boat finally got the final coat for the base colout last night. Because work has been hectic, it has been a slow process. The people that supplied us with the Marlin's and Jumpy's lettering have offered to do all the pinstriping in the 'mask and peel' and set out in the factory for me tomorrow. I think i'll take them up on the offer. What i could do in 4hrs, these lads will do in half an hour.

Was looking 4ward to have taken the goat out for her 1st run tommorro.

Down @ sea sea's today for final checkup & starting of motor which she did no probs

Had to shut it down quick smart when the alarm went off after around 5 seconds.

Tis a design factor for the alarm to go off if motor revs over 2000 rpm in neutral

Left Brenno to tend to adjustments on the throatle cable 5 minutes later out came the binacle control box cause brenno was scrating his head the same way I was when I installed evlly ting.

F'n mercs dont like their cable setup @ all & I even took the whole binacle in b4 I fitted it to get a run down cause it didn't look right

Turns out wrong cables were sent out by merc they're the new style cables not designed for the binacle box they'd sent out with the motor.

Just checked out the latest pics Jumpy, I told you the hardtop had too much angle on it and now the boat looks GAY!
Those clears really make it an all weather boat and the look good on it.
Do you think the trailer drawbar could have been a bit longer to get some more depth at the ramp?
How far was it backed in, it looked like there was only a little over half the trailer wheels covered?
How the hell did you ding your prop when the skeg sticks down even further, there must be some big rocks at the very bottom of the ramp or something.

Won't be long now mate and you'll be out on the Bay having a GAY old time. hysterical.gif

Posted by: Bees Knees Dec 9 2009, 11:00 PM

Yep, there is always an incident when you are with Jumpy...
He managed to blame me as well, says "The driver always checks the coupling, didnt you know that Bees?"... hysterical.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Slipping into another topic, i dont have my V8 at the moment so I've been travelling in a 6 cylinder Holden. I had to borrow my mate Browney's (he's a lurker on this site smile.gif ).. I miss my XR8... I just spent $50 in fuel today in the 6cyl dry.gif dry.gif

But thanks for the loan Browney, it dug me out of trouble today... ( he reads this stuff smile.gif )

Ewe hit the nail on the Shinny Head Fed hysterical.gif

I'm looking 4ward to seeing ewe out in the bay bending over the gunnels of your goat attracting flathead with your FAD

I'll punch in your co-ords into my Bazooka's & fire both barrels @ once you'll get your annual fix of ANUL JOY hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

In your dreams Fed hysterical.gif

There's purpose behind evlly ting I do

Narrow glass screen allows me to stick my head out so as I can see when coming in @ night nutting worse than looking through a dirty screen

Reason roof is tapered is velly simple, keeps front down lower [twhen I did the mockup it looked poxy being parralel] whilst giving ewe more head space aft where it is needed & if ewe want to believe that it may also act as a spoiler hysterical.gif

Allways new the clears would bring the look back into proportion they just roll up when not required, I hate getting wet out there as I dont enjoy the fushing the clears will keep me dry & the wind away on those blowy days

Hey Browny !

I'd get your car inspected if I were ewe.

Have ewe got ROCKS in your head ?????????? wot on earth prompted ewe to let Bees drive it

Did he threaten to come stay with ewe over the weekend ????? hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Well peeps The DUCK FLAKKA !

SHE'S GONE sum bitch towed her away 2day

Posted by: Fed Dec 17 2009, 03:31 AM

It has to be an illusion but in the rear end shots of twoeyesea and mini me Bees boat looks to have a deeper V, check it out in the other thread.

Posted by: Bees Knees Dec 17 2009, 03:47 AM

I dont think the V's are different Fed... My transom is taller though... Jumpy has dropped his floor

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Dec 17 2009, 03:49 AM

Geez Fed

Wi Yu No Risten ?????? hysterical.gif

All 3 boats came off the same jig so they're all the same hull

After doing the water test on the 1st wun I decided that mine would have a lower floor level I also lowered the gunnel hight by 50 mm.

Reason being I knew I definately wanted a lecky on mine + I do alot more lure casting than the other tu boats

Speaking off which Bees picked up my new water snakey today & yep did go with the 80 lb'er with 60 " shaft fit it up 2morro

All i know is my merc is fatter and the boat is taller than Jumpy's, so thats all that matters imo

Geez Fed it's really not your day again is it ??

Just finished telling ewe it's not an illusion & that my goat is 50 mm shorter than DUCK FLAKKA' in hight hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Nice one JG, boat building master!

Time to start getting the whiting and bream on poppers me thinks. They're biting well on the surface in Woolooware and Quibray Bay.

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Dec 17 2009, 11:42 PM

Sore as 2day & did Sierra Foxtrot Alpha + it was raining

So I spent the day visiting peeps & of course shit stiring them hysterical.gif

1st stop was @ sea sea marine where I'd sent Bees yesterday to get his boat code & a fuel primer 4 his Yamaha /Mercury hysterical.gif

Soon as he walked in Chris started calling him the Duck Flakka I pissed myself ewe guys have no idea wot i'm on about.

Next I went visiting my favourute tackle store rolleyes.gif

A few new toys to play around with a couple of the LOX kungy sticks a new 2 - 5 kg LOX spin stick wasn't allowed to steal the 6 - 10 kg LOX spin yet as stock hasn't arrived & it's needed as a sample.

These LOX rods aR selling like hot cakes & have to be air frieghted in in an attempt to keep up with demand.

Also got sum other new toys & Gumballs tried stealing my pair when I visited there next had to ring 1st & asked whether it was the FLAKKA DUCK FARM

I'm refering to my new boat shoes & not my BIG Gumballs.gif for all ewe dirty minded pervs out there

On the way home I dropped off a couple of cartons into Botany Bay Tackle for Loiu

QUOTE

Yep he also said there's been quite a few bream & Wi Ting in the bay

Apparantly Broadbill nailed 3 marlin yesterday @ the 12 mile

I'm very reserved in believing that cause it was blowing it's arse off yesterday & couldn't see many if any boats fushing outside

Should get my tidy ups done over the weekend so it's back to wetting a line next week just in time to miss all the weekend warriors

And its about time to. the shame of it is, that the build for the big boat got bugged up when the site went down, and i would think to much was lost making it near impossible to get it back to what it was.
How ever if the photos could be found and re posted that would be good.
